Inclement Weather Guidelines

The City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department closely monitors weather conditions that may impact programs, special events or facility accessibility. We will closely monitor the National Weather Service (NWS). It is our mission to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Participants and guardians are always encouraged to make attendance decisions with their health and safety in mind. 
When applicable, efforts will be made to re-schedule cancelled programs/events.

Fields Playable?

When it comes to City of Bloomington ballfields and activity areas, player safety and field maintenance are the top priorities. Fields may be closed to preserve them from extensive damage and keep them playable throughout the playing seasons. We use the following criteria to determine whether a field should be closed:

• Heavy Rain / Thunderstorm / Tornado Warnings
• Standing water or soggy conditions on the playing surface
• Damage to the field which makes play unsafe
